Amber and Martin have always had their hearts set on farm life. In 2012 they quit the bright lights of London for the Chiltern Hills, and started life at Howe Farm in Dorton. It all began with rare breed pigs and the farm quickly gained a local reputation for its amazing, 100% pork sausages.  Next Amber and Martin purchased their original four Dexters and have since grown the herd to twelve, supplying the community with fantastic Dexter beef.

After the arrival of the couple’s twins, Amber was keen to return to farming and to establish a creative business that challenged her physically and mentally.  Amber loves learning about which blooms produce the best scent, which stems are most suited to the vase, and which flowers are best kept in the garden. Her goals above all are to grow beautiful flowers that everyone can enjoy - and to create simple, natural arrangements that showcase the very best of what is in bloom.

Every stem you take home from Howe Farm has been hand-sown and carefully nurtured by Amber. Unless you’re armed with a pair of secateurs and filling a pick-your-own bucket, everything is cut-to-order by Amber herself.

Keen to operate as sustainably as possible, Amber uses municipal compost from garden waste collected in Buckinghamshire. The farm is a chemical- and pesticide-free zone, and all produce packaging is kept to the bare minimum. A “no dig” technique is used with the flowerbeds, using recycled cardboard to help enrich the earth’s ecosystem. Amber and Martin grow their flowers in line with the seasons from March to October, so customers can rely on the very best blooms that Britain has to offer, month in and month out.
